My First Ever Makeup Stash!

Hello!! I am back. It has been reeeaally long since I last sat down and wrote something.
Since school is officially out and I have so much free time now, I really want to use this opportunity to record down things that matter to me and also new changes or additions that are happening in my life.
I have never really been into makeup - well I did use eyeliner about three years back, for a couple of months, but my efforts were pretty inconsistent and I basically drew it any old how. So now that I want to improve myself and learn how to put on some light makeup, might as well write my learning process down right! It would also be really fun for me to read this in the future...you know...like reading on how bad my makeup skills were in 2017. LOL.
Sooooooo, onto my first EVER official makeup stash!

I will try swatching the products on my wrist because I read somewhere online that the colour on your wrist will be more indicative of how it will look like on your face as compared to using the back of your hand!
SILKYGIRL Expert Brow Slim Liner (02 Dark Brown)

This is a gift from my uni friend Hui Yi and I super love it!! I was so inspired by her eyebrows LOL so I told her about it and then she bought this eyebrow pencil for me when she was shopping! How nice!! This is what happens when you make friends with pretty people - you will want to improve yourself and be chio too.
I really like the shade - it's sort of like a dark coffee brown colour and it is really easy to apply as well. I'm thinking of trying a lighter shade when I'm done with this one, but currently I am super satisfied with this colour!
Lingwei Waterproof Eyeliner (Black)

It was $0.30, that is the only reason I bought it. LOL.
I have ZERO idea on how to draw an eyeliner, and to think I used to draw eyeliner to work three years ago? Say whaaat!
But anyhoo, I bought this because I chanced upon the Tried & Tested channel by Clicknetwork where they introduced it.
I did try (keyword: try) to use it once on ONE eye. I immediately regretted my decision and wiped it off.
Maybe with more practise I could get it right, but for now I don't think I will be using it because:
1. I think it is too dark (and black?) for my liking. It makes me look like I've got a bulk of makeup on my face
2. The eyeliner does reek of the smell of eyelash glue which puts me off.
Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control (13C Cool Ivory)

I think this one needs no introduction. It really does what it claims to - control the oil sebum secretions on your face to keep it matte! I wore it out for five hours (half air-conditioned, half in the open) and my face was totally matte the entire time.
However, the coverage is very average. It does cover light spots and enlarged pores but for more serious spots, it will still be visible. Overall I am pretty satisfied with it because I wasn't intending to get something that was too thick as I did not want to risk clogging my pores. Hence, I am OK with sacrificing some coverage for a more lightweight bb cushion.
To illustrate the coverage, I thought it would be interesting to show you how much it will cover the eyeliner and eyebrow pencil swatches I did earlier on!

This was after dipping into the cushion two times. As you can see, the eyebrow pencil swatch can still be seen faintly while most of the eyeliner is still visible!
That said, I am actually still unsure as to whether the shade is suitable for me.
When I applied it on at home, I immediately thought it was too fair for me and my face looked much fairer than my neck. But I was actually told afterwards that my neck looked much fairer than my face?? I definitely can't be shade 11 because that is the fairest shade in the range and I am for sure not that fair-skinned. So I guess I will have to continue monitoring as I go along!
NYX Powder Blush (PB14 Spice)

This blush pan is really really really pigmented. I literally just swiped my brush in the pan twice and it was SOOOO pigmented on my cheeks that I had to use my Laneige cushion to go over it to reduce the intensity.
But I am in love with the colour! It gives my cheek that really nice pink flush which is exactly what I wanted. Furthermore it also has a matte finish, which will look more natural when applied as compared to blushes with a shimmer finish! Now I just need to learn how to control the amount of product and how to spread the blusher out on my cheeks properly!
Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip (Calypso)

Firstly, this colour is everything. I really adore the muted rose hues and the colour payoff is awesome. It does have a satin finish (as the name suggests) and the formula is not overly-drying. That said, it still does sit into the lines on your lips.
As much as I love the colour, I don't see myself using this on a daily basis - maybe because my skin is a little bit more on the fair side, Calypso looks a little too heavy on me.
NYX Matte Lipstick (MLS10 Perfect Red)

I think this is really what its name suggests, perfect red. It's a very classic bold red with cool undertones. You know, I used to have major love for super red lipsticks, I would use my mum's red lipstick even though I didn't have any other makeup on. LOL.
出去不懂吓死了几个人了。
However, I find the texture of the lipstick a little weird - it feels kind of plastic-y when I'm trying to apply it onto my lips. Maybe because it is new and needs some breaking in before it would glide on smoothly. The twist mechanism is also really loose and the lipstick goes down back into the tube easily if I apply too much pressure.
Other than that, the colour payoff is pretty good - very buildable and though it belongs to the matte series, it doesn't really accentuate any fine lines on your lips (well, at least lesser than the Colourpop one). The colour does also give a teeth-whitening and skin-whitening effect due to its cool undertones and bold colour!
I will attach some photos of how the makeup products turned out!
First Attempt:

Base: Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control (13C Cool Ivory)
Eyebrow: SILKYGIRL Expert Brow Slim Liner (02 Dark Brown)
Blush: NYX Powder Blush (PB14 Spice)
Lips: Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip (Calypso)
Major feels for Fall with this look!
Second Attempt:

Base: Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control (13C Cool Ivory)
Eyebrow: SILKYGIRL Expert Brow Slim Liner (02 Dark Brown)
Blush: NYX Powder Blush (PB14 Spice)
Lips: NYX Matte Lipstick (MLS10 Perfect Red)
You see what I mean by the NYX Matte Lipstick being a really bold red! The colour does look a little brighter and warmer if you are viewing this on your laptop, but through phone resolution, the colour is pretty true to its actual shade.
*Side note, check out the lighting difference in the different photos!
The first attempt was taken in the morning at around 10am and the second attempt was taken at around 6pm. Interesting how different lighting/clothing colours can change your skin tone appearance under camera!
I am contemplating on whether to learn applying eye shadow! (Because of seeing all the pretty girls out there again LOL)
But I am pretty much a sloth so I don't know if I will be able to undertake so many makeup steps before going out *cold sweat*
Plus more makeup means more makeup products needed = more money spent NUUUUU.
Allow me to contemplate more. HAHA.
For now, signing off!
xx,
Crystal
