Jumping onto the salted egg yolk bandwagon, Fish & Co. has recently introduced their own version of a salted egg yolk fish and chips, which is said to be available for a limited period of time only. In this post, let us explore if Fish & Co.'s limited period menu proves to be worth the time & bux, or would you be better off missing this one (and hey! Maybe look for another store that sells salted egg yolk dishes too!)
Overall the place is nicely-lit, friendly service staff and clean utensils. But one thing that spoils it is how the tables are so small. There were two of us, and we found that it was really hard trying to put all the food that we have ordered on the table without having to squeeze and risk putting dishes near the edge of the table.

Their new menu:

Ultra mega big cups (really very big, I saw another table ordering it):

Using iPad to take orders. Thumbs up for trying to use technology to hasten ordering process! Especially so when the store gets crowded and the service staff are all busy.

The Premium Fish & Chips (Salted Egg yolk) - $18.95

The amount of salted egg yolk sauce drizzled over the fried fish was pretty okay: taste-wise it is nice, but Fish & Co. could afford to be more generous! Furthermore, the menu illustrated that there was salted egg yolk sauce sandwiched in-between the fish fillet slices, supposedly oozing out after you cut it (as what the picture illustrates, I am not making things up okay haha). Certainly, the amount of sauce sandwiched did not match up to the picture illustrations, but where nonetheless still quite tasty. Again, could be more generous with the sauce!
I liked the crisp and whole feeling of the crust, coupled with the soft texture of the fish inside. However, my mum wasn't a fan of it as she felt that the batter was too thick and the fish too disintegrated upon chewing. So I guess this is really up to personal preference. I mean I wouldn't mind firmer fish fillet meat, cause my Mum's standard for food is definitely higher than mine, so...hurhur. But okay la, give and take a bit don't so harsh hor.
The accompanying fries was standard. Pretty crispy even when we left it on the plate for quite a while, as we were busy finishing other dishes first.
Prawns Deluxe - $8.95

The MAIN MAIN PROBLEM: not enough salted egg yolk sauce. I could barely taste it. On a better note, at least the prawns tasted fresh. But overall, I would say give this a miss.
Clams in Curry Butter - $6.95 with any meal

So I would say give this a miss, unless you are an undying fan of clams and must eat-em all then...okay.
Hmmm, not a huge fan.
1. The clams were not washed clean. We could both taste residual sand in some of the shells.
2. The curry butter...uhmmm to be honest didn't taste distinctly like curry butter la. Just a nice sauce, but I wouldn't call it curry butter la haha.
Mushroom Soup of the Day + Lychee Mocktail - $9.90 with any meal

Soup of the Day was mushroom soup (wee I like soups) and...I would say it's average la, I have tasted better ones. But the quantity is quite decent to satisfy your mushroom soup cravings!

The Lychee Mocktail was really really nice. It's hint of acidity and sourness made it a super appetite-lifter. It also tasted very refreshing, especially when paired with eating so much fried food haha. The only problem is..there are small bits of lychees/leaves in the drink that always clog up the straw, especially so towards the end of the drink, so that might get abit annoying. But overall, it is a mood-lifter!
In conclusion, the star of the day, the salted egg yolk fish & chips, was decent. But given the craze with salted egg yolk everywhere, you might be able to find cheaper alternatives that could taste the same or even better than this!

Buh-Bye!
